WHO NEEDS A GENIE IN A BOTTLE?
Who needs a Genie in a bottle?
“I knew that was really the only purpose of life: to be our self., live our truth, and be the love that we are.”~ Anita Moorjani
So let’s get this party started with our special guest Corbie Mitleid from beautiful New York. And I will introduce her. Hello Corby. Hi, I’m impressed with your German. Ich habe nur ein bisschen Deutsch. Oh, that’s Oh, I lost you. I lost you. Oh, she froze on me. Let’s try that again. She’s gone. She’ll have to come back in here she comes there she is.
Like my German really bad. How do we get rid of the not me in the middle here? What do I let’s see, I can remove that one. There we go. We’re back. That’s hilarious. Boy, if that isn’t the backup plan. know if you could ever have the planet Mercury on for your backup plan when it’s retrograde and let it talk about what it does. Oh my god.
Everyone would be listening. I want to I wanted to introduce every all of our listeners to wonderful Corby. She is from beautiful New York. I I just have to go there one of these moments when we can fly again.
Certified Taro master, certified psychic medium, past life specialist, channel and an author of many, many books, which I will let her talk about. Yeah, you’ve How many? Four?
Yeah, four books I’ve written. I’ve written three. I wrote her a graphic novel series for 10 years called Elf Quest. I’m in a book series by Robert Schwartz. So yeah, I’m out there in print. That’s that’s what I’ll say.
Awesome. And we’re going to talk about the genie book today. Because I really I really love to needs a genie in a bottle. My favorite show was always I Dream of Jeannie. And Bewitched, growing up. And, and it it really took us into a mystical life of fairy tales and hope and all sorts of different feelings came out of all of those types of shows. Yes. So let’s start with you. How did things evolve for you?
Oh, well, this is what I call the one minute elevator speech. When I was nine, I read a book called The witch family by Eleanor Estes and I knew there was magic in the world. I wanted to go find it. Fast forward to 1973 when I was a senior in high school and yes, darlings it does tell you how old I am. That was the year living let die came out and they had the James Bond 007 Tarot deck and I bought it. We were all hippies. Then you had your elephant bells and your fringe jacket and your done now, five years later, everyone else had moved on to roller skates and disco balls. I was still reading the cards. I loved them. So for 20 years, I read for friends making sure I could keep my ego out of the way.
All of a sudden in 1994 I could do hands on healing and talk to dead people with no training. That was when the universe handed me my draft notice and said hello greetings. You’re working for me. Did it part time. Meanwhile, a very checkered career path. Actress, author, inspirational speaker, video producer, legal assistant executive recruiter. Always this on the side. But the big thing for me that happened was 911. I live up near the Capitol. I wasn’t down in New York City. But we watched the towers burn online. Wow. And I turned to my husband and I said I need to do this other work full time. People need to know there are other answers out there and he said I believe in you go do so for a year. I still work 70 hours a week as an executive recruiter. And did this work evenings and weekends till I was sure I could make a living at it. Then I basically turned my back on the corporate life and have never looked back. And I now work six days a week, 14 hours a day read about 1000 to 1200 people a year. And I freakin love it. Awesome. Get to get up every morning. Not have to.
Because you’re really feeling like you’re helping others. You just felt that need and I’m using every talent that I have and loving it. I’m not just sitting and typing and taking care of somebody else. It’s as much creativity as I can make
And what is your focus when when you’re getting feeling this this energy? What What is your main focus?
THE MAIN FOCUS AT THE TIME
Do you mean? My clients? I, I used to do four day shows in Kitchener, Ontario As matter of fact. And these were long days they were you come in at noon on Friday, you set up three to 910 to 910 to 9010 to six, I would read between 60 and 70 people in a weekend and do two lectures nonstop. But it was a reader’s high, I would focus right on the person in front of me with all of my compassion, to help them figure out where they needed to go from here. They get up, somebody else sits down, core dump of the old information back for them. You roll me in a body bag back to the b&b every night. But it was exhilarating. And it asked me to use every single skill I have. Yeah, I don’t know how you kept the strength to keep. You really had to make that dump of that information so that you could move on. It’s like,
it’s like a muscle in the gym. You know, if you go to the gym five days a week, you’re gonna be able to pick up a 60 pound barbell like it’s nothing. Someone who’s never been there before is like, Oh, don’t train?
Yeah. Well, I think the release is probably the utmost important so that you can filter. What? Oh, it started with fate breaking your back, that is kind of the shift then to the 911. And then, yeah, 911 the shift was I was on the road 45 weekends a year. No, 45-50,000 miles a year on the car, my nickname was the Travel Channel.
But in 2019, a pinched nerve, herniated disc, and honey, that pain makes labor in triplets look like a tea party. And it hit when my husband and brother had just left for three days to do a guy trip. So I was in agony on my own for hours. Luckily, I got a friend who could get me to the hospital. But, you know, it took me a couple of months to recover. And the doctor said you’re traveling days are done. You cannot do 10 hours in the car, you cannot do the load in and load out. Sorry. So I had to think Alright, Plan B, how am I going to change my entire career. Because I had worked as hard as I had. And I was fortunate enough to be in Robert Schwartz’s book series, which is a worldwide bestseller. It took effort, but I was able to move all of my business online. I can I can meet people all over the world. I can zoom, I can do stream yard, whatever. In the States and Canada, I can just talk over the phone. And so when last year happened, which is what I call the year of hold my beer and murder Hornet Bingo. A lot of the fellow intuitives that I know, crashed and burned, because they were always on the circuit.
But this universe, it said, You we need you work. And so I had moved everything online already. And I was busier last year and made a larger income than I had all the years when I was traveling. Now of course we’re coming back and I decided I like here. You can see it behind my screen. But there is a large bookcase and there’s a sign that says new supervisors office, that’s where my cats are asleep. And I get to sleep in my own bed every night. So that went to writing my third book, it gave me the material to write the third book. My whole philosophy is this. A lot of people know the acronym for fear false evidence appearing real. But I made up a new one. Fame equals full acceptance means everything. So you’ve got to ask yourself, do you want to be fearful or famous? It’s all down to that.
Isn’t that the truth? Because when you’re looking at something and you’re in front of you, am I going to go through it? Or am I going to stop myself?
Look, let’s look at one of the other major things that happened to me. I mean, from the time I was 11 I had a Dolly Parton figure we are not kidding. Put Dolly in a brunette dye job that was me. And I got my first bout of breast cancer in 1989. lumpectomies radiation while I was acting in New York and working 60 hours a week. Her law firm as we all did that. Then in 2000, I had skin cancer on the breast from the radiation, so they were misshapen and scarred. Batsto had finally married the right guy in 2002. We were happy bunnies, late 40s yet couldn’t tell. Then all of a sudden, I had a second primary, which turns the danger clock back to zero. But the doctors in Boston said, okay, three strikes, you’re out. We’re taking the rack, we’re taking the ovaries. And you’re going to go from this Dolly Parton figure with the libido of a 17 year old boy to a fat fireplug with a libido of a turnip and permanent serious side effects. And you’re not allowed to take anything for it because of the estrogen. So suck it. You know, we’re going to cure the cancer. Well, I will show a joy. Where do I sign up? Please, I went home for 24 hours and I cried, who was I going to be? I just been married a year and a half with my husband staying with me. But I had learned some very important things in place called the action Institute, which I’d gone to 1983 ever since. And they taught me You got a problem, you find three reasons to be okay with it. It doesn’t matter how stupid The reasons are. So I said fine. You don’t have them. You can’t get cancer. They’re the top half is not going to get slammed in a refrigerator door at the doctor’s and every woman listening knows exactly what I’m talking about. implants be perky till in 93. This is cool. So that I got out of massgeneral Africa with Master reconstruction in three days shot her bathing suit and track.
They’ll even be perky when you’re lying down.
Tupperware bowls, they don’t know. And I found out just what kind of a husband I had, because he looked at me and he said, am I gonna miss them? Oh, yeah, they were gorgeous. But I married you, not them. And I had had to handle clients shattered. Because when they woke up in their hospital room, after the surgery, they found divorce papers with a note. I married a whole woman. Not you? Oh, serious. Really? Yes. More than once. More than one client found that the minute that she had this life threatening illness that husband took off. Today That isn’t what they married or tour. You know, for better for worse? Yeah. Well, I, I have talked about that in a few shows were selling insurance. And we talk about insurance. And I’ll say to people that are married, when something happens like that, and you hear the C word or whatever. The other spouse does one of two things. They either stay and support you. Or they run the other direction.
Any Barbara What about? Yeah. Yeah, but you know, for all of the listeners who are dealing with cancer, I see cancer like Voldemort, you know, don’t say the word don’t say he will not be named. It’s there. Just name it. I tell them don’t fight cancer, because what you fight fights back. And you’re not going to be a survivor because they just hang on by teeth and toenails. You are going to learn that you are a cancer dancer. You find out how graceful you can be under pressure. You avoid getting your toes stepped on and you get off the dance floor in one piece. When people think of it that way, they give themselves so much more power. I like that. Take it and use it.
I think a lot of people out there struggling right now especially during COVID. It’s made, it quite changed for people being able to get treatment when they should be getting treatments. And it’s prolong things way too long
for them, and it’s burned out a lot of physicians. I know that I’m trying to see a specialist here in the US. And believe me, we have a idiotic medical system. But you would think we could get to see people. The specialist I need to see I cannot see until February. Oh America knows. And they said there just aren’t enough doctors, especially women’s medicine. You know, we can’t keep them because a lot of doctors burned out last year. And so the pool is much thinner, much thinner than it was. Yeah, that doesn’t help everyone because it’s not changing. Cancer is not really changing much for all of this statistic wise. So while that that’s unfortunate stuff is important, that’s your backup plan. Start. Start young. Keep it up.
Yeah, yes. So, um, what else other than? I mean, you’ve had a lot of hits to audit changes. And it brought you to this point. Did you want to show everyone your book?
Well, actually, yeah, there are a couple, the one that talks about how I got through. A lot of what I’ve had to go through is actually this one, that’s the first one, clean out your life closet. It talks about clarity, adaptability, simplicity, and making friends with stress. But I don’t tell you do everything I do. Because that disempowers you each chapter, it’s here, some stupid things I did.
Here’s a client example. Here’s some things to think about. And then at the end of each chapter, you have adventure pages, where I asked you open ended questions, you’re not going to be able to look up the right answers in the book, because they have to come from here. When you finish all those adventure pages, at the end of that book, you have your own survival manual right there. And it will be different from your best buddies, because her examples are different. The one that we talked about after the back injury is this one, which is you’ve got the magic who needs a genie, that’s what went ding for you. aeroclub boss was like, cover artists nice, brilliant.
But it says the A listers guide to holistic Expo success. And this is specifically for anybody out there, who is what they call a light worker, you either do the metaphysical work like I do, or you make crystal jewelry, or you’re a Reiki healer or something like that. There are no books out there that tell you how to run a business, doing what we do. So when I knew that I wasn’t going to be on the road anymore. I’m done. I’m toast. I wrote down every single thing that I knew. So whether you’re a rookie, just getting in, or you’ve done it for years, and you want to up your game, we do things like the basics, how to choose an expo booth, look how you dress, who you hire, the social approach, which is all the social media, the intangibles, the keys to self care, because if you don’t take care of you, you’re not going to be able to take care of your clients. And the last part is to grab bed, webinars, workshops, radio, television legalities, a lot of people would always see when I’d find a rookie at a show. And I’d say come on over to my booth. And here’s all my stuff. And here, take some examples of my rack card and things like that. The only thing I would always say is just don’t copy verbatim. The words are mine. And people would say, Boy, people don’t do that core big. I mean, that’s competition. And I laughed, I said, No, it’s not. I’ve been reading for almost 50 years. I’m a New Yorker, I’m funny, I got a background, they don’t have, they will grow into theirs. And there are 9 billion people in the world baby, I can’t read them all. We need more good psychics. So here. And that really lifted a massive burden off my shoulders.
Because I didn’t feel the the push to go back on the road. I was able to do the plan B. I mean, my husband is 67. He’s been retired from his job as a museum director for three years. I chose this because I figured I have to work until my deathbed. Well, I still want to, but not the way I used to work. So everything between the back and COVID and all of that. That’s the backup plan. I’m morphing my business model my catalog into the plan B because now the world is saying now you’re ready for that. Look, change is inevitable. The more you try to hold on to what you’ve got. The world is going to say I’m sorry, but that’s not happening. I didn’t really want to come off the road in 2019. But I should have because I was already having back issues and you know, he’s Washington. Well, the universe whacked me upside the head with a clue brick that I could not ignore. And by the time I was well enough to go back on the road, we had COVID and during COVID I found that I really like this new paradigm that fate and the world pushed me into and why I got to think it was changed not away from it. Yeah, why do you? Why do you think it was so hard for you to change?
Why do you think that is? You were comfortable with the way it was.
It was fun, man. You know, I live in Howard County, it’s 32,000 people and a bunch of cows and sheep. And I got to meet all kinds of neat people. And I was a, you know, a diamond level like Hilton. So people would come in and go, Oh, isn’t it like, we’re not worthy, and I get upgrades. It was great. You know, stroke, my ego. But it wasn’t good for me physically. And it wasn’t even good for me financially when we looked at how much I was spending it overhead, versus what I was taking in. Yeah, that was a glue brick, dude. It’s it’s much better now. Much better. I have a lot less overhead. am I paying more in taxes? Well, yeah, somebody has to.
Yeah. But it used to be you know, I would do for day shows in Canada. So I leave seven o’clock Thursday morning, drive eight hours to Kitchener? Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, I’d work I get over the border Monday night, and then drive home Tuesday. And do it again. So I was home two days a week. Oh, that’s hard. That’s tough. Yeah, yeah. So this is better for me better for my marriage much happier cats. Because, you know, mom’s always there for cuddles and treats. Yeah, they get they get to participate. Yes. And one of them is a 26 pound Maine Coon, who when he wants to participate in Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. His name is prawn. His real name is from biathlon, but he was the shrimpy guy of the litter. And he was a gift from a friend in Britain. So I said, How come I’m getting the shrimpy guy and she said, Oh, no, over here. We call them prawns. So he became the prime commander because he runs the house. He do accents. So well. I was a theater major at Brown University. You never know what’s gonna come out of my mouth.
Hey, I’ve been trying to learn Irish so that I can welcome all the Irish people to the listener group, because they’re, they’re increasing as well, and I’m doing a really bad look worse is Welsh. Karen Edgerton, who was the magnificent, Elton john and Rocket Man has talked about well, well, he’s a tough one. Irish is a little easier. But friends of mine have moved to court for a couple of years. She works for Facebook. And her kids are going to school and learning Gaelic, and it’s like they come home and they can talk about anything in front of mom, and they’re safe.
That’s awesome. Yeah, I tried to yesterday show Yeah, listen, yesterday show and I thought it sounded really good in my head. But what came in anything like that? Oh, well, it’s, it’s all fun. Right? It’s all fun. So, in, in the first book, it I think you’ve shown the first and the second, what about the third and the third?
That was first and third? Second? This one? Oh, yeah, the psychic yellow brick road how to find the real wizards and avoid the flying monkeys. tagline is good psychic guidance is art Don’t settle for a forgery. And I did this because of something that I saw in Toronto that 15 years ago that Toronto would have a massive psychic fair like 250 booths. And they couldn’t be as picky about who was in that show was they will fry smaller boutique show. So you know, there are real gypsies in Roma but gypsies are easy to fake. You put on the scarf and the jingling jewelry in the long skirt than you do the bad accent and you can be adjusted. So there was a woman who was walking between the booth and the fake Gypsy comes out of her booth and grabs her arm now that’s hooking. That’s as bad as the other kind of hooking.
But we heard the chip she’s like, Oh, you No need to pay $30, $40 $50 I read your palm for 10 come. Drags the woman into the booth. Oh dear. And 20 minutes later, we see that woman leaving hysterically cry. So we rushed over. And she said that the Gypsy had told her Oh, you have a family curse. How many in your family for your dog $50 every family member 25 for a donkey smile we fixed and told the woman that she would have been burned 400 specially blessed candles at the Roman Catholic Church. I bless real good only $1 candle or her entire family was gonna die in a car accident in two weeks. And she bought it. And you know after they peeled me off the ceiling because I just exploded. I said I have to write something that will keep people safe.
And so this book tells you I mean, some people just want Want to use intuitive counselors like me, they don’t want to learn to do it. They don’t want to psychic development course. So this tells you what we can do, what we can’t do, when to run, because you’re going to get taken questions to ask us questions that won’t work for you, how we do channeling how we do spirit guides. And, interestingly, a lot of the psychics who have read it, have said, I wish this book was around when I was just starting because it would tell me what to expect when I started having clients. And there is some stuff in here that is hysterically funny.
There’s a chapter called when not to have a reading. Because there are times when it is not right for you. And the classic is right here. This is a client that would sit with me, and the first thing dispersed love me now. Have you ever thought about me? Not the way you want? If I do such and such, really think about me? No? Well, is it going to call soon? No, he’s not, if he’s not going to call soon is going to call later and they beat on you like this, hoping that you will go yes, this He loves you when he wants seven babies with you, but he just doesn’t know it yet. Okay. That way, it just doesn’t. It just doesn’t. And it also tells you how to behave. You know, like you don’t come up in front of my booth, which people have it said, Tell me something you couldn’t know about me. And if you’re right, I’ll have a reading. I just look at them. It’s violence. I’m sorry. I don’t roll over and fetch either. And I turned my back and they don’t get to sit down in my booth. We are not. We are not a car wash or a latte.
We’re humans. Don’t lean over my table and say you don’t need to eat lunch now. My wife wants a reading you can eat later. Excuse you. Oh, oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And things like Well, why don’t you do a reading for half price you’re not doing anything anyway? Or can my friend and I come in for a reading and only pay for one? Or give me a reading for free? And I’ll tell everybody how good you are? And my favorite What do you mean you won’t read me for free? It’s a god given gift. You’re not very spiritual. Oh, nice. Change the the profession? Would you say to salon owner, come in here for a couple of bucks. You’re not doing anything anyway? Or to a plumber? Can you fix my plumbing in the bathroom and the kitchen? I’m only charged for one service call or to the doctor you know there are no but here in the states where you pay through the nose for anything health. Yeah. What do you mean you won’t see me for free? You’re not compassionate. You just want me to die, don’t you? And people look at me when I give those examples. And they say that’s insane. I said the why you do it to me? Yeah.
Yeah, exactly. That’s the other Plan B kids. If you find somebody using you, in your job, know how to say no, no is a fabulous idea. Nobody has a right to drag you around in the mud or make you a doormat.
In any jobs. Oh, right. What are you going to do? If this one goes up in flames? Have that backup plan have that planning? My work is an amalgamation of everything I ever did. I was an author before. I’d written my books. I was an actress while you’ve seen me on camera. I still use that. inspirational speaker, legal assistant. If someone needs to take a look at a lawsuit, executive recruiter, I love helping people with their career questions. All of what I did before is food. grist for the mill. Right? It’s not that what I did before is wrong. It’s this is just the the rightest thing I do.
It just brought all of those together for you. Because when people have questions they they’re going to ask about love relationship or job.
I mean, finances it’s what I call the everyday tour bus. House. Car job, kids. Okay, God, you put me here I need some clothes. Yeah, right. Yeah. Do you think did gypsies give that whole? I want to say career. Did they give the the title for psychicness? a bad name.
Do you think I’m one of many. And remember, there are real gypsies in Roma. There really are. But because people think gypsies are cool. It’s on my Facebook page. Yesterday I posted a sign that they have in New York City chained to a pole. It’s a missus or something. And she reads terror cards, t r o r? What are terror cards, it’s t AR o t. And then she has a special price. And special is spelled wrong. You see these kinds of things honey run in the other direction. Their friend of mine said yes, here in San Francisco, we have someone who does plan readings, I’ve always wanted to have my plan read and I was on the floor. You know, real, real us’. Number one, you are going to be able to get testimonials from our clients. Are we kind? Do we have specialties? Do we try to upsell you all the time? Do we tell you that you’re cursed? Are we always saying the same thing? Did people feel comfortable? where we help? Or would they come back? We have to you don’t want cold readings? what are called ratings. That’s when someone says, Oh, I’m getting a message from a female from your family. Is your grandmother dead? No. What about your aunt? Oh, it’s your second cousin.
That’s a cold read. If you come to me and say, I want to know about my career, I do have a right to say, Okay, one of three ways, stay where you are change jobs, or you’re an entrepreneur, because each of those is a totally different multi card spread. If you’re an entrepreneur, I’m not going to say wait until October to fire the second redhead to open up your jewelry store. It’s a card for you a card for the energy around the business, the brick and mortar location, how to market it, clients competition, staff finances what you need to know in best possible outcome. It’s deep dish. And when you see everything that is part of this, you can make your backup plan by just said wait till October and find the Red Hat that tells you nothing. Yeah, so my job is to give you the toolbox kids, I’m not the repairman. The toolbox is full of what you need to make what you want, whether it’s on a straight road, or you have to take the scenic route.
Did Did you find any people that came to you afterwards with a change of life like that, that it really changed them?
Yes. It’s how I decide, will I read your we’re not? People say how often should I come for reading? And I say it depends. If you came to me for an entrepreneurial reading today. And in five weeks, you came back and you said, Wow, everything you told me was terrific. And I did it. And these are all the new things that I have to consider. Of course, I would give you a reading happily. But if you come to me once a year with the same questions, and clearly you’re not doing anything with it, like a good bartender and I cut you off, you’re wasting your money and my time. So, but now I’ve had people, business clients that I’ve been reading for 10 years. And when there are mergers or acquisitions or shifts in clients or hiring new people, yep, we look at all of it.
Did you have a lot of work with COVID with changes of people not knowing how to shift their business how to shift their Yeah.
That’s why I did better last year, even though I was off the road than I had done on the road. For one thing, people were sitting at home. And they could think and they could get worried and they would go to a psychic. I’m much less busy now. Because everybody is going out and having dinner and going these places. And yeah, yeah, I’ll get to the psychic later. And that’s okay. Live and be Well, I’m glad you’re vaccinated. You’re out there.
That’s for sure. So that they can now build that? Did you have any sort of shift where you felt that things changed so much in the psychic world that you just couldn’t keep up to it?
Because I draw my boundary boundaries very, very clearly. Now, it may mean you can’t get reading with me for six weeks, last year, but you can get on my schedule. I did not break my own self care boundaries. Yeah. But the questions did change. It was how to morph what I do. My company is closed now what can I do? I don’t know what to do with myself. And you know, we talk about their sentence of passion, and we rethink what they know and try to amalgamate it into a new career. All of that stuff it it was not a an ordinary year last year, but it taught other people all kinds of new ways to think and it honed my skills in a lot of different directions. That’s cool. I know your book, The genie in the bottle book. It was more for lightworkers in that field of business, but really the genie in the b

I know your book, The genie in the bottle book. It was more for lightworkers in that field of business, but really the genie in the bottle for every buddy out there. is really what you have inside?
Yes. Yes. Very often we get told what we’re supposed to do. I, my father wanted me to be a lawyer. Oh, he would have been a great lawyer. I would have been but it’s not of interest today. And you know, everyone in my family were doctors. Dad was a cardiologist, brothers pulmonologist, mom was a nurse. May I faded blood. I was a theater major, I was a writer. I was the alien. And I stuck with it. And eventually my father understood who I was. And he’s the one in the family who did. But it is important that you get rid of the shoulds and the musts in your life. There is a terrific comedian, her name is Loretta LaRoche. And she says, women are always shooting on themselves. And if they’re not shooting, they’re masturbating. And don’t do either one. And it’s true. We let other people tell us what we should be doing. And we feel guilty. And we must listen to that. No, no, I want to give you my two magic phrases, my darlings. When someone starts telling you what you should do what you have to do, and you don’t agree, you just smile at them and say, thank you for sharing. You may think that if you wish, and you go do what the hell you need to do. You just do? Yeah, because if you’re busy following somebody else’s plan a life for you, how are you going to know what your plan B is, if Plan A doesn’t work, because you’ve been looking at what they want for you, you haven’t been doing the self exploration, which is inside.
Because we’re all really really good at something. And we really all have a passion at something. And sometimes we’re living someone else’s life.
It’s It’s why I encourage people to find their sentence of passion. Your sentence a passion is not who you are, or what you do, or even how you do it. It is your favorite trail. When you go skin into heaven on bald tires and fumes in the dank, and God hands you a Baron says so you get to say I did this, Isn’t it cool? Now for me, my sentence of passion is cross the bridge from fear to fearlessness and fly. When I can take somebody from point A to point B when they thought they couldn’t make it, whack them on their shoulders and say here your wings you don’t need a flight plan now get. I’m living my bliss. And I’ve done that in every career I’ve ever had. Once you know what that is, you will never question What am I here for. And you will be able to change your life and make as many plan B’s as you need. Because you’re going to be like the ballerina who has a spot on the wall. And no matter how fast she turns the head whips around and finds that spot again. That’s why she doesn’t fall. Your sentence of passion is like a spot on the wall for you. You’ll always have that you will not stumble.
But how does someone jump from? I always look at it like the fool card as someone jumped from a corporate job or a job that they’ve been comfortable with with that income and fly into what you should be doing for that passion. And don’t look back but don’t fear the money. It’s always the money that people write. It is difficult, but for those who don’t know Tarot, here is the fool card. And here’s the allegory. I’m trying to see, can I get into focus? There we go. Notice he’s holding a rose. He has a hobo bag and a dog and he’s about to step off a cliff. The allegory is grab hold of what you’re passionate about. Carry very little old baggage and only tell those who are loyal to you what you’re doing and you can cross mountains and fly. Now, if at all possible.
Yes, it is easier if like me, you have financial backing my husband didn’t have to pay for everything I was doing. But I knew that he would pay the mortgage and the cars and keep food on the table while I revved up a lot of people need to grafted on. Now that’s what I did remember that they once I knew what I wanted to do, I was still working Monday through Friday for the corporate person, but evenings and weekends everywhere I could find to go do readings I did until I was sure I could make a living at it. And any money I made in that first year did not go in my pocket. It bought me my records and my clothing and my banner and everything I needed to do shows. So there will be some overlap as you go Plan A to plan B if you can do it. But the key is to know what you love and not switch over to here. Well I’m really tired of being a secretary. My friend makes a lot of money doing Pampered Chef I guess maybe I’ll try that. I guess maybe I’ll guaranteed you will fall down the stairs, you got to run toward it, I cannot wait until I that will give you the rocket pack on your back to make those changes.
That’s true because we’re all scared that you know that income stream is going to die off when you change. And, and that’s where everyone seems to fail is because they didn’t make that, that adjustment to the other and just took that jump and dove in and said, Well, whatever it is. It’s true.
There’s a wonderful little mystical shop here. It was called the broom closet. And I loved it. It was beautiful. But she needed to make money the first month, she lasted four months, blew her wad of backup money and closed. If you’re starting a new business like that a brick and mortar you need a year’s worth of stuff behind you either in a loan, or you’ve saved it. We’ve got backers. Okay, this is not the 1940s where Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland could put on a play in a barn and next week, they’re on Broadway. That was great for the 1940s not happening. And in the 21st century. Guys, it’s not. That’s true. What if you’re just too scared to you just keep working at that dead end job that you don’t want to do anymore? I mean, there’s so many people, but they want to make that shift. But you’re saying to do it.
Slowly in due course to Yes. And you have to want it so much that you can taste it. You do.
I can’t give anybody courage. It’s just like, I tell people don’t say you made me so angry. I did not make you angry. Here’s a situation that I presented to you. And you chose to be angry about it. The way I explain it. One of the other things I tell people that I learned at auction is the world has three questions. What do you x about x is always the emotion. What are you afraid of angry about worried about? Why are you x about that? And then the question we never ask ourselves, what do I think would happen if I stopped being x? about that?
Okay. Let’s say it’s raining here in New York State. There’s one guy with his family at the beach. They got to BHS for a week is going to rain all week. I’m in my house working on my next book, and the cats are sleeping on the shelf. And then we have farmers who have had a drought. Now the rain is the rain is the rain, the way he does not care. But the guy at the beach automatically thinks, Oh, this is terrible. The guys who have the drought problems are out dancing in the field. And I’m still working and I love know that it’s raining because I’m neutral. attitude is what changes it. The guy at the beach if he says you know, I’ve been trying to get my kids to watch the Marx Brothers for years. Well, now they’re stuck. And we’re going to do it. And there could even be a farmer who says but my crops do better in dry weather. And now though, it’s terrible. So he’s miserable while everybody else is happy. And I’m still writing my book. attitude is everything. How you look at a situation can either give you roses, or ground glass, but you choose where you put your hand.
You choose your focus. Yep. Yes, that’s not true. Did you have any final messages that you’d like to give? I know I’d like to read every single one of your books, but go to Amazon throw it in. And every everybody. Not everybody but many people know that. The acronym for fear is false evidence appearing real. So they know why they should not be fearful. But how do I get fear less? Go for the acronym fame. Full acceptance means everything because remember, when you accept everything, you have all the tools you need to make that plan B and make the backup plan. You’re not hiding from anything. So hearing those two always ask yourself, do I want to be fearful or famous choices Mark? The fear is so false evidence appearing real.
So real. So real. Yes. That’s beautiful. I I hate to end it on that note. Okay.
It’s It’s awesome. I hope Everybody has. You know what you say Corby is just so deep to and realistic to what people are feeling and seen and wanting to change their lives today. You know, too, especially during COVID there, there’s so many people that have worked in bars and restaurants and saying, maybe this isn’t for me. Maybe there’s something else out there.
Yeah. But no, I am not like most psychics out there, which is why I can share everything I know. Because I’ve got a whole boatload of life experience that informs how I work with people. Yes, that’s beautiful with their plan B.
Yes. Oh, that’s awesome. Well, thank you. Corbie. Thank you, listeners.
